Advanced Member michalis Posted September 2, 2012 Advanced Member Report Share Posted September 2, 2012 I need to update myself and try to read in the forum what I have missing that I suspect is a lot! Indeed! Not only in this forum though. You have a new competitor. (Nicholas Bishop) Welcome Raul.

Contributor BeatKitano Posted September 2, 2012 Contributor Report Share Posted September 2, 2012 He's talking about liveclay/dynatopo But I think they're both based on the same papers, so... not really.
Reputable Contributor AbnRanger Posted September 2, 2012 Reputable Contributor Report Share Posted September 2, 2012 He's talking about liveclay/dynatopo But I think they're both based on the same papers, so... not really. If they can compile the LiveClay/Brushes code for CUDA (5), there won't be any "competition."
Advanced Member michalis Posted September 2, 2012 Advanced Member Report Share Posted September 2, 2012 But I think they're both based on the same papers, so... not really. Are you sure Beat? It doesn't look like. Neither dynamic topology of blender performs as 3dcoat, right now. But the brushes perform much better. So, a competitor. @Abn, CUDA support is more advanced under blender. Have you noticed it? A full interactive renderer already. OGL isn't as bad as you think. For sculpting mode I mean. You just need a nice ATI. lol (nvidia has an issue involving backfaces polygons). Contributor BeatKitano Posted September 2, 2012 Contributor Report Share Posted September 2, 2012 Gee, I was just letting eveyone know that Raul was back in case they missed it. god, I hate forums and sometimes wonder why I even bother with them... @Michalis, could you have just said, Hello Raul, good to see you back and all this who has the biggest, would not even have got started... To a mod, will you please delete this entire thread... Thanks Edit: I see Michalis as removed his comments but still just delete the thread please... I already said my regards to Raul on his website. Don't take that chat so seriously, it's not like another brownmatter-storm started yet (sigh).
Reputable Contributor digman Posted September 2, 2012 Author Reputable Contributor Report Share Posted September 2, 2012 If I took forums too seriously, I would not be here today... This was just a heads up to the community and we all get frustrated at times even yourself. I was frustrated that the thread turned into a software vs software thread instead of just being a heads up for the community in case they missed Raul's post on the update thread.. A little knee jerk reaction yes, and my words to michalis not very kind, he is my friend too. Even friends sometimes rub each other the wrong way. I did edit one part of my wording out of my frustrated statement...

Javis
I see no reason to delete this thread. It serves a purpose. Welcome back Raul. And thank you Digman for letting us know. EDIT: And of course, please keep things on topic. Soooo, back on topic. Thanks.
