Advanced Member blackant Master Posted June 17, 2012 Advanced Member Report Share Posted June 17, 2012 when using transparence, i seen that in working viewport (paintroom) there is nothing to do to see the other side of polygons. but when in render room i can't find any option allowing me to active 2-sided polys.. should be usefull. Advanced Member 3DArtist Posted July 25, 2012 Advanced Member Report Share Posted July 25, 2012 +1 for backface rendering.
Reputable Contributor AbnRanger Posted July 25, 2012 Reputable Contributor Report Share Posted July 25, 2012 +1. I ran into that issue once as well.
Reputable Contributor digman Posted July 25, 2012 Reputable Contributor Report Share Posted July 25, 2012 Yes, sometimes you want to be able to paint the other side of a flat plane... an example would be a highway billboard.... Also that would mean exporting a true 2 sided polygon. Maybe it could be added as an option...
Reputable Contributor AbnRanger Posted July 26, 2012 Reputable Contributor Report Share Posted July 26, 2012 Well, what the OP is talking about is not painting on the backside, but actually having the RENDER Room show both sides. For example, if you model a barrel cover for an assault rifle, with ventilation holes in it...you cannot see the other side, in the Render Room. You can in the Paint Room, though. It's an oversight, I'm sure. Most 3D apps allow you to choose 2-sided for the material.
Taros
But don't forget to set a color value for the backside if possible! +1 By the way in this context: A better alpha support in the viewport would be good too. (Better BSP tree.)
