3DCoat 2026.07 RC portable zip - Holding Ctrl over a knot in components with the NGVoxel behavior now correctly previews its effect on raymarching - Added support for applying Node Graph presets from the NGVolumes category directly to volume objects, automatically creating the necessary Voxel layer if it doesn't already exist. - Significantly accelerated the rendering of node previews and channel viewing (via CTRL+hover), while eliminating lag, unnecessary loading popups, and fixing bugs with black material previews and layer masking. - Fixed an issue where a connection between knots could not be established on the first attempt. - When saving a NodeGraph, the same category and folder used when loading it are suggested by default. -

I just bought 3DCoat too and am trying to get used to it. This feature needs to be added as soon as possible. The developer is going to make 3DCoat more aesthetically pleasing. We are waiting impatiently. -

Hello Carrots, Thank you for your explanation about Surface Layers. I understand how they work now. I have one additional question. When a Layer is hidden, some brushes such as Smooth, Snake Clay, and Freeze show the message "Hidden layer is selected" and cannot be used. However, other Surface brushes can still be used normally even when the Layer is hidden. Could you please explain why only some brushes check the Layer visibility state, while other brushes can still work with a hidden Layer? I would like to understand the difference in behavior between these brushes. -

Each individual layer saves the changes you make. You can then make the layer invisible to turn off individual details or change their intensity. -

I don't have an answer for that, honestly I don't know. Be careful about deleting any layers; all operations performed in Surface mode are recorded in Layers. -

The issue has been resolved! You mentioned the location of the Layer at the beginning, but I misunderstood it as a different place and was checking the wrong location. I apologize for the confusion. As you pointed out, I made the hidden Layer visible, and the Smooth brush is now working normally. I am sorry that my misunderstanding caused you to spend so much time helping me investigate this issue. Thank you very much for finding the cause and for patiently helping me. I truly appreciate your time and support. However, I still have one question. I find it a little strange that other Surface brushes such as Clay worked normally, but only the Smooth brush showed the "Hidden layer is selected" error. Does the Smooth brush check the Layer visibility state more strictly than other brushes? I learned a lot from this experience. Thank you again for your help! -

@carrots Why, if the screen has more horizontal than vertical space, make the panels so large ? Also some Panels only are open on Viewport, so it is difficult to organize the Layout -

This is such a great addon to 3DC! Please, keep it in your plans. Having this kind of repetition removing tool is fantastic. Definitely a great complement to the new textures done by nodes. I recently made some trims sheets in 3DC (will be uploading a tutorial soon) and the repetition was something to overcome. Great work to all the devs, I hope all the upcoming changes turn out well. I will download the new RC in a minute. Thanks! -

3DCoat 2026.06 RC2 Portable versions 3DCoat, 3DCoat Print, 3D Coat Textura - Nodes have been sorted, and noise and patterns have been separated into different folders. - Mandatory GLSL validation has been added after NodeGraph modifications. - Node system support has been added to the free version of 3DCoat Print, allowing anyone to generate voxel objects and patterns.
