  1. Hi Vertex paint only paint color and gloss/specular channels. Is used for that.

  6. Sorry but, are you using PRO version ? Edu version are limited to 2048x2048 texture sizes.
  7. There is a button in the tool palette which says Ptex local resolution when you hover over it. It's an image of a square with four smaller squares in the upper left corner of it. Clicking on it will bring up a bunch of options, at which point you can select which polygons you want to affect by left clicking on them (hold control key and left click to deselect).
  8. You need to create an empty layer (V or S dont care) and parent all meshes to it, is a workaround.
