Reputable Contributor AbnRanger Posted November 11, 2015 Reputable Contributor Share Posted November 11, 2015 Thanks for taking the time to do all of this. Helps fill a void for SSS until Andrew adds true SSS to the PBR toolset.
Contributor Michaelgdrs Posted November 11, 2015 Author Contributor Share Posted November 11, 2015 Thanks a lot. It works really well especially if you get 3 materials , one in each layer and play with the values and settings. I have a demo scene that shows exactly this in the package. If you adjust the values SSS comes to life a lot. You get almost real SSS. If you look at the 3d coat cover at the ear area you will notice the sss and at the cheeks and cheek bones , tried to get it as accurate as possible with the existing tools in 3dc. Contributor Michaelgdrs Posted November 11, 2015 Author Contributor Share Posted November 11, 2015 In am preparing a tutorial to send to the buyers and thank you all for buying , really appreciate it.
Contributor Michaelgdrs Posted November 11, 2015 Author Contributor Share Posted November 11, 2015 Before applying the material playing with scale is a must as it works each it with the baked AO on each 3d model. Then we must turn the normal down around to 5 from 100 on the layers. Tested a lot to come to a good result. Tutorial will come up tonight.

Reputable Contributor AbnRanger Posted November 12, 2015 Reputable Contributor Share Posted November 12, 2015 I am finding that moving the GM Skin folder to the MyDocs/3D Coat 4.5/Patterns directory, works to show the folder in the Smart Materials panel, but none of the images in the materials show when you try to use the material. I have to manuallly find every single image map and that is a huge hassle and time drain, trying to link all of them up. Can you create this as an extension (3dc pack) and see if that doesn't correctly link all the images? Don't know why 3D Coat isn't seeing them as they are in the same folder, but it's as if the links are busted or something
Contributor Michaelgdrs Posted November 12, 2015 Author Contributor Share Posted November 12, 2015 First of all thank you for 1) Buying and supporting. 2) Reporting this issue. Before i upload i tested and it worked fine. I tested in 3 PC Only one co - worker had the exact same issue and that was a bad admin privilege on his My documents folder. He disabled uac and an ticked the read me only on the folder it self. I believe you cant export the smart materials as extension , at least not working when i tried to (several times). Can you do a test please? First disable uac and an tick the read me only on the folder. Grab any smart material (those that came with 3dc and copy from one folder to another. For example take one metal (both thumbnail and pbrm file and copy it to the plastics folder. Does this work? I am saying this because i just tried and it works as skin materials do here. I already had UAC disabled and READ ONLY checked on the folder. No dice. Every material requires the user to have to click on each map and look it up manually. Uuuuggghhh. Advanced Member Tarby Posted November 20, 2015 Advanced Member Share Posted November 20, 2015 These metals are great. The essentials can often be overlooked in favour of the eye candy. Thanks, and a bargain as far as I'm concerned.
Contributor Michaelgdrs Posted November 20, 2015 Author Contributor Share Posted November 20, 2015 Thank you very much for the support. With those (my private collection so far ) i have made soooo many combos and new ones , ver 2 , ver 3 all different. 2 Essentials for metals to work great 1) Good environments (i have also custom environments that i plan to release as well ) 2) The pack i will release in the next 24 hours hopefully , scratches , dirt , dust , etc etc. All those metals are in their clean form , all rust , dust etc effects are separate so they can be applied uniformly on them. This way you can have a chrome with an aluminium side by side and have 2 options 1) Get a uniform dust on them for example 2) Get different rust on each one as it would be in real life Everything i create i create wise i believe lol
Advanced Member Tarby Posted November 20, 2015 Advanced Member Share Posted November 20, 2015 I've already made some custom versions
