  1. Houdini is amazing...so glad I didn't buy it a couple of weeks ago. Thanks for the heads up!
  2. I experienced this aswell with the a couple of the default pbr materials that require AO. I only noticed on the metal shaders, but didn't test extensively.
  3. That's a good idea...It would be a good e panel stroke type...or a modified function of the paint polygon tool.
  4. Hey everyone, No new posts in a while but I've been explore more aspects of 3D Coat and 3d in general. Primarily, I've been doing more work with texturing, retopo and baking. I've been learning some other programs too like Zbrush(has some nice features but just can't get into it) and Substance Designer and Bitmap2Material. But man, do I enjoy working with 3D Coat. I can't understand why it's overlook for other programs. I think PBR shaders are genius and can be greatly expanded upon. I'd rather use 3D Coat than just about anything else I've tried and it complement Blender perfectly. It should definitely be a top option for indies. Especially considering it covers the entire pipeline prior to animation. Anyways, I just wanted to share some of the new stuff that I've been doing. Everything here is made only in 3D Coat. https://sketchfab.com/models/4f3a199ff4cb4619a375cfe5e5c0240f https://sketchfab.com/models/bca25f6973cc41aea5cbee0c5e753b48 https://sketchfab.com/models/9cda37a425a5476489210fc9cc370817 (testing new pbr shaders)
  5. I have to say this build is excellent so far. The performance seems to be a lot better too. Please keep up the refactoring, it's definitely paying dividends. Also, I thought I'd mention, I'm teaching 3D Coat to my students at a couple of the colleges I teach at and they're really liking it. I'm going to try to integrate it even more. I started using zbrush in order to teach it to them and while it's a very powerful program, I find the sculpting feel much better in 3D Coat (aside from their smoothing which is pretty responsive and the autoretopo which performs quite well). I did notice that the models the I took from 3d coat looked better in zbrush, but I think that is no longer the case with this update. I'm really blown away by the work you guys have done! I can't wait for Raul's updates too. Exciting times!
  6. Man, this new shader system is pretty amazing...I'm just messing around and I made a pretty convincing seal skin texture. I think it still needs some tweaks as Digman alluded to. Perhaps a sensitivity slider or an option to blur the effect on the depth and bump colours, as right now it's picking up a lot of the imperfections on my mesh and drawing too much attention. Actually, I'm not sure it's the same thing that's happening to Digman. But I must say, I'm very excited. Any chance of getting Yebis post processing integration?
  7. Yes, That is exactly what's happening...When I start 3D Coat it's as smooth as butter, but then after a couple of minutes my pressure just stops working properly and my quick strokes just don't register or they start later than I had hoped and end up brushing on the wrong part of my mesh. Sometimes it seems like it's not working at all...and at other times it seems like a forced time based taper on on my brush from low pressure into my regular stroke. It kills the feeling of responsiveness. Did the driver update eliminate your problems?
  8. I'm using 4.5.28 and I'm get an issue with some of the tools. Where my tablet is not registering the beginning of my stroke, or if it is, it's registering as a low pressure stroke even if it's not. It's affecting me with texture painting on a UV'd mesh and with surface sculpting when I use the Rapid2 brushes. Anyone else having this problem? I'm using the GL64 Cuda version, but I'm pretty sure I was having the same issue on the DX64 non cuda version. I'm also running windows 10 with a Cintiq Companion Hybrid. It's really hard for me to paint or sculpt with it like this.
  9. Hey Shane, I'm not sure if it will help, but make sure you have your navigation settings as follows in 3D Coat. You can find the settings in the Camera dropdown. Camera-->Customize Navigation Then make sure you have one setting that is RMB + LMB is set to Move in Screen Space.
  10. cool start. I like the idea.
  11. Just thought I'd mention this in case it hasn't been said, but I wonder if the slowness of the sliders in the paint room and other places in 3D Coat is due to the fact that they are not integers...I don't think we need decimal values in there. I noticed that you can go in there in and put in values like 10.22% for example. I think 100 levels of granulation are more than sufficient in just about any situation.
  12. Hey Ballistic! Thanks for watching the video. VoxLayer is great. I also like grow in Voxel mode, especially on low polycounts...(up to 250k) And also smooth all on lower polycounts in voxel mode. Crease clay and Inflate clay are also really good brushes in surface mode. To answer you question, this will be going into Maya for retopo and rigging. Done by someone else. I normally use Blender though.
  13. Wow, this is great! Did you render this in Max using the maps exported from 3D Coat? Also, I made a video a while back that speaks to the strengths and weaknesses of voxel mode and surface mode in 3d coat that might give you a good base to work from. I hope that helps! -G
  14. Just finished Kochise off the other day. Here is the final sculpt and timelapse video for anyone who's interested. My process was unnecessarily convoluted. But that's learning right!
  15. Does anyone else have a problem with saving rendered images? For me it renders, but then it won't save. I've only tried it for stills, not turnarounds. I'm also having a problem with the sphere tool...it wont draw anything. Further, when I have existing geometry, it hides it, like the hide tool would. I'm using 4.5.08 Cuda GL64, but I'm going to check the newer one. EDIT: After testing 4.5.09, rendering seems to be fixed. But the two CUDA versions are still having the problem with the sphere tool. But it seems more extensive, since the primitives don't seem to work either.
