Free stuff & addon

Recommended Posts

I want to make free add-on with textures, materials, pens, strips, masks, sample objects, tutorials, ... So if you have some stuff and you want to share it, please send it to me (support@3d-coat.com). It is also a good possibility to promote youself or your site, because all contributors and links to sites will be listed near "Download stuff" button. Our site becomes more and more popular, we have 500-1700 visitors every day (in average 700) Also, stuff should be license free to avoid any problems in future.

Please post there if you have any ideas.

I think you misunderstand what Andrew is saying, He wants to compile a collection of brushs and alphas we have made to share with whole community.

Something directly usable by 3d brush

That said these links are awesome ;)

I read it the same way. Andrew already has a material I made, as long as he got permission from the Flickr user I got the original photo from.

Just make sure to post if they are free for commercial use, or free for non-commercial use. I found a ton of free Photoshop brushes and NONE of them were free for commercial use.

Hi Andrew,I think I should really share something.

I want to contribute all my full 360*180 degree panorama images of my University campus, all the images are shot and stitched by my team(I'm the founder),I have all the legal rights,so I have rights to contribute them.

They can be used as environment map of 3D-coat, also they can be used for rendering. Although they are not real HDR images, they are all "Tone Mapped" images, the quality is enough for some usages I think.

In order to show the quality of the images,I made one English(not all english, still include Chinese) version of the virtual Tour of my campus, but I think it's enough for non-Chinese speakers to preview the images in real time.

To preview the panorama images: Vistit http://www.86vt.com/test/tyust/english.html

Hope they will have some usages for our 3d-coaters.

There are 31 panoramas, they are jpg format. I will send them to your email later,Andrew.

And the licence is very simple: Free for 3DC legal user(include commercial usage).

Thank you very much! I see, I can modify shaders to use it correctly.

Tomorrow I should go to short rest with family, when I will get back, I will modify shaders.

It is really cool idea to use it as a backgrounds! I think modeling on cool background is better then on gray is some cases.

Now "mirrorball is used. But is really better to modify shaders to be able to use images "as is"

Hi philnolan3d,thank you!(though I already know it) :)

The problem is the "take photos" step.I only shot one group of raw files and convert them to 3 different exposure in PS,then make the 3 exposure to a not-real HDR image, then Tone Mapping to a jpe file.

Due to the limit of one raw file,it's up to 12-bit.Even if I convert them to a HDR file,it's still only contain 12-bit dynamic range.

To create a real 32-bit dynamic range HDR images,I should shot 3 group or more raw files with different exposure at the beginning.

When I will have chance to visit some great places,I may shot real 32-bit HDR images, and share with our 3d-coaters.

To Andrew: Have a good rest!

Luo Chen(first name is Chen, family name is Luo)

I'm just starting to play with shooting HDRs myself. So far everything I do with multiple exposures and Photoshop's "merge to hdr" looks pretty bad. Unfortunately Merge To HDR stopped working with RAW images, no idea why.

haha,it's right,Potoshop's "merge to hdr" is not really very well. You may try DPHDR(http://www.mediachance.com/hdri/index.html),it seems that more people use Photomatix Pro(http://www.hdrsoft.com/index.html). But I would use DPHDR,because it's more easy to control and can provide more nature looking, and it's cheaper. Photomatix Pro is good, but need more skill.

You can download quite few free alphas on my site, however they are greyscale 16Bit PSDs which you probably need to convert to tiffs first (I have problems loading them directly). I might do that at a later stage and upload a free pack for 3DC specifically.

Thank you!

Phil, Rapidshare tells me "You have reached the download limit for free-users. Would you like more?"

I am curious about it because I am only 3 days on new provider :)
