Advanced Member Garagarape Posted March 28, 2015 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted March 28, 2015 Thanks everybody! That was the little hour of glory, that happens every fourty years I wish they published all the part about 3dCoat, but they probably had to shrink it down a bit to fit the format. Back to learning now. I can't wait to finish the character with the helmet but first I have to finish another contest (3d Squirrel "Outpost contest") until May.

Advanced Member Garagarape Posted July 18, 2015 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted July 18, 2015 Thanks Tony. I've been away for a while and only noticed your message today. Sorry. I mentioned I've used 3DCoat to create this little scenery, but failed to take the first prize this time Anyway, here is the interview: http://www.3dsquirrel.co.uk/forums/blog/1/entry-64-3d-world-magazine-interview-challenge-winners/ Cheers!
Contributor ajz3d Posted July 18, 2015 Contributor Report Share Posted July 18, 2015 (edited) Awesome, Frederick! Please do accept my congratulations! Your outpost reminds me of a reverse side of toys' cardboards (StarCom, Star Wars, GI Joe, etc.), where you had photographs of all available characters, equipment, vehicles and, especially, structures that everyone wanted to have, but the allowance was always way too low to afford them. Good times. P.S. How long did it take you to create this scene, from start to the final version? Edited July 18, 2015 by ajz3d
Advanced Member Garagarape Posted July 20, 2015 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted July 20, 2015 ajz3d, yes you're right. It looks a bit like a toy box picture (Zoids? Robotix?). Thank you for your kind words. It took 2 months, but working on it only during spare time (one hour here, one hour there). Cheers!

Advanced Member Garagarape Posted July 9, 2016 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted July 9, 2016 Long live to 3dCoat! Currently upgrading to V4.7. Sorry to be away for so long. Almost 2 years! too busy at work and at rugby games. But alive and kicking Now that I've upgraded, I have to sculpt something. Many great works in the Gallery --> Keeps the motivation up. I miss the green and black website design, though. But will get used to the clean white and blue. Cheers!

By the way, you can change the them color at the very bottom center of the page. Darker theme is much easier on the eyes....literally. Advanced Member wave of light Posted July 9, 2016 Advanced Member Report Share Posted July 9, 2016 Hey...good to hear from you again buddy! I too have been away from 3DC for too long. Need to catch up on what has changed. Noticed the Autopo has been improved a lot and looking forward to seeing QuadPaint develop.

I'll try to post some new works soon when I'm done with the current game development. One more month fighting with Vita...
Advanced Member Garagarape Posted July 14, 2016 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted July 14, 2016 Smart material is fun! Now I have to finish this character started more than a year ago... Advanced Member Garagarape Posted July 17, 2016 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted July 17, 2016 Starting to refine the old sculpt. Degraded parts to increase work speed.
Advanced Member Garagarape Posted July 18, 2016 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted July 18, 2016 Trying to make better folds on the trousers with the pose tool. Not too good so far.
Advanced Member Garagarape Posted July 18, 2016 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted July 18, 2016 Still a long way to go, but enough for today!
Advanced Member Garagarape Posted July 20, 2016 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted July 20, 2016 No great improve today, despite a lot of time spent on it. Separate boots from the legs to make the work easier. Too much time lost switching from a material to another... Can't find the best compromise between a harsh lighting that stress out the imperfections of the model, and something kind to the eyes. Have to check more combinations of environment map lighting and materials.
Advanced Member Garagarape Posted July 21, 2016 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted July 21, 2016 (edited) Boots refined. Next step, refining the arms. Something went wrong with them. RaaaaH! It's a 3dCoat bug, noooo! Listening to "Don't fear the ripper" right know. Which band was that? Edited July 21, 2016 by Garagarape wanted to "chat" a bit more
Advanced Member Garagarape Posted July 27, 2016 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted July 27, 2016 Started to refine the arms. Only 30 minutes today... I mostly use the move tool to tweak places lacking volumes guided by the highlights. Still very rough. Fingers like sausages.

Advanced Member Garagarape Posted November 13, 2016 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted November 13, 2016 Too busy at work + a trip to South Carolina (Greenville) kept me away from 3dCoat... I ran out of gas on the previous work. Lets start something new for a quick warming up. Mermaid doodle (WIP):

Advanced Member Garagarape Posted November 13, 2016 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted November 13, 2016 Thanks Tony! Long time not seen. I missed an occasion to meet 3dCoat members for real during my trip to USA. Anyway, one week in South Carolina was not enough to explore other places. I hope that you, David and all the veteran friends are doing good. I'll try to be more active here. Time is like toothpaste, there's always a few left if you make the effort to put it out (my former Chinese teacher formula, that is not totally true I guess) Take care!
