Advanced Member Garagarape Posted May 4, 2014 Author Advanced Member Share Posted May 4, 2014 Hey Beat! Long time not see! How's your wrist? My shoulder is sour... Thanks a lot for the link about ngSkinTools. That look really good. I'm really thankful for this information, I probably wouldn't have found it by myself. And there's only few people arround me at work who talk seriously about technique. Much appreciated! Cheers
Advanced Member Garagarape Posted May 4, 2014 Author Advanced Member Share Posted May 4, 2014 One guy posed. Need plenty to put in a corridor scene.
Contributor artman Posted May 4, 2014 Contributor Share Posted May 4, 2014 really came out great!! light scattering is a little clippy tough but I like the pose and all ,very cool

Advanced Member Garagarape Posted May 5, 2014 Author Advanced Member Share Posted May 5, 2014 Artman, Methelina, TimmyZDesign, Thanks! It's not perfect. The legs lines are not beautiful and makes him look slightly fat. But I made little improvement on the rig, which is not my strong point, so let be happy with it after all. It is rendered in Marmoset Toolbag 2.0. I'm thinking of adjusting the render a bit after building a little scene for the stormtroopers. Advanced Member Garagarape Posted May 5, 2014 Author Advanced Member Share Posted May 5, 2014 Got my pack of bad guys. Next is scene build. May be a modular stuff with Maya, or an all in 3DC with poly-paint.
Advanced Member Garagarape Posted May 12, 2014 Author Advanced Member Share Posted May 12, 2014 I made a simple scene for the characters. Didn't manage to control perfectly the reflections on the ground, but I'll call this one done. I wonder if I can put this in the "achieved work" gallery for I didn't use the official 3dCoat logo...

Advanced Member Garagarape Posted May 12, 2014 Author Advanced Member Share Posted May 12, 2014 Thanks! I wish I could train like that more often. There's still crappy things on the final shot (there's some weird artifacts in the reflections). It's a pity I don't find time to give a shot to the challenges. That would be fun, for sure, and motivating to work with other people of the community. May be when the company project ends in a few months... Contributor LJB Posted May 15, 2014 Contributor Share Posted May 15, 2014 Love this Really Clean work Garagarape. good progression in your stuff. My only thought is maybe make armour a little more specular?
Advanced Member Garagarape Posted May 16, 2014 Author Advanced Member Share Posted May 16, 2014 Ha ha. You trapped me. Making the specular stronger with the image based light I use make the scenery awful. I gave up to changed it this time. Something to work on, on the next attempt with mecha. Advanced Member Garagarape Posted December 8, 2014 Author Advanced Member Share Posted December 8, 2014 Hello there. Long time not see! I've been through a lot of sad times, but back for new works with 3dCoat. This thread is becoming messy. It's probably better to delete old pages. For now, just a quick snapshot of a new sculpt:
Reputable Contributor digman Posted December 8, 2014 Reputable Contributor Share Posted December 8, 2014 Hello there. Long time not see! I've been through a lot of sad times, but back for new works with 3dCoat. This thread is becoming messy. It's probably better to delete old pages. For now, just a quick snapshot of a new sculpt: I too have been though some sad times, death of a son and have not returned to 3dcoat for a while. I do plan on returning sometime in the future. Good start on your hard surface sculpture.

Advanced Member wave of light Posted December 17, 2014 Advanced Member Share Posted December 17, 2014 The edge cuts (sharpness) are well done and it's starting to take develop nicely. Sorry to hear you've had hard times, hope all is well now? Ricky.
Advanced Member Garagarape Posted December 18, 2014 Author Advanced Member Share Posted December 18, 2014 I'm fine. But my Dad passed away. Everybody has to experience this one day. Well, almost everybody. But this kind of topic has nothing to do on 3DC forums. I just wanted people I like here to know that, if I stopped posting for a while, it had nothing to do with something I would dislike about 3dCoat community. In fact, if I had more time, I'd spend it all sculpting and testing new tools all day long How are you doing in England Rick? I bet it is better than what people are experiencing in France right now. F.Hollande is such a P***k! Have you got new stuff to show?
Advanced Member wave of light Posted December 18, 2014 Advanced Member Share Posted December 18, 2014 Sorry to hear that man. Hope he had a good life. As for me... well, I haven't used 3DC recently, as I've had an influx of 2D work. I can't moan, as it's better than having no work on at all. Went back and re-did my Ben Grimm, finally happy with him now. But apart from that, I have nothing in the pipeline that will require 3DC at the moment, so it may just be personal stuff (if I get the time). But I don't think England is in any better shape than France, lol. You busy?
Member Elowan Posted December 18, 2014 Member Share Posted December 18, 2014 Good work - only one little thing: a tad too much chromatic aberration was used in that render (personal opinion) Or maybe it´s just my old monitor Cheers
Reputable Contributor digman Posted December 18, 2014 Reputable Contributor Share Posted December 18, 2014 Progressing nicely there... Is this all voxel work and no surface work yet?
Advanced Member Garagarape Posted December 18, 2014 Author Advanced Member Share Posted December 18, 2014 Wave of light > I'd be happy to see your 2D work too. I have to see your Ben Grimm; I didn't see the final result. It's on your Wip thread, or finish work thread? Yes, we can't complain if we have a job to feed the kids. Sure. The amount of work at my company is just crazy though. Twelve hours a day is just too much for me. I learned to say "NO!" Take care. Elowan > Hello there! Yep, but it is a Photoshop made "chromatic aberration" and just a test for the moment. I've moved the red channel from one pixel to get that. There's no special render at all. Digman > It is just made of primitives in the voxel room. Boolean work only so far. It's funny to combine primitive shapes to get more complicated model parts. I could have used a set of mecha parts from 3dc website, but wanted to control more modeling from the start. See you!
Advanced Member wave of light Posted December 19, 2014 Advanced Member Share Posted December 19, 2014 (edited) A lot of what I do is under strict NDA, which is a bummer, because it means I will never be able to show it. But if you want to check out my 2D work, visit my website http://rsldesigns.co.uk Yer, the Benn stuff is on my sketchbook page, but some more shots are in this thread: http://forums.newtek.com/showthread.php?140836-Ben-Grimm-%28aka-The-Thing%29-WIP Chin up lad... onwards and upwards! Advanced Member Garagarape Posted December 20, 2014 Author Advanced Member Share Posted December 20, 2014 Thanks Wave of light! I was happy to see your Lancaster once more. That was a great one. Hope you'll find time to make others like that. Ben Grimm is cool too, especially for the facial expressions that must be very tricky (Blend shapes?). I didn't found your 2D works on your website except rough sketches for Fabio the frog. Same for me; it is difficult to show stuff made for other companies, but a least most of the time it's OK to show pictures after the release. Looking forward to seeing your new works. Advanced Member Garagarape Posted December 21, 2014 Author Advanced Member Share Posted December 21, 2014 Tanks Alvodr! It's all a lazy guy work. Nothing special in the way it is made. No special tool used, just boolean. Here are few pics of the robot:
