3DCoat’s Reproject tool (found in the Sculpt workspace under the Adjust menu) transfers high-poly voxel details and vertex colors onto a lower-resolution or modified surface mesh. It supports full-mesh projection or local brushing, featuring near/outer snapping, auto-ghosting of references, and manual smoothing to minimize distortion.

Allows the user to reproject the details and vertex paint from one or more meshes in the scene to another mesh. Either to the entire mesh or locally using a brush.

Key Aspects of the 3DCoat Reproject Tool:

  • Functionality: It is primarily used to move sculptural details from one object to another, often after retopology, ensuring the high-poly surface aligns correctly with the low-poly mesh.
  • Workflow: Users select the target mesh, activate the tool, and choose to project either all at once or locally using a brush.
  • Settings & Options:
    • Snap Options: Includes “near” (closest vertex) and “outer” (outer shell) snapping.
    • Auto Ghosting: Automatically hides referenced volumes for better visibility.
