Advanced Member erklaerbar Posted February 26, 2011 Advanced Member Share Posted February 26, 2011 would it be possible to make support for importing curves for curves tool from svg? Just thinking that would be quite cool...

Advanced Member michalis Posted February 27, 2011 Advanced Member Share Posted February 27, 2011 I was waiting to see broad strokes, broad use of move tool. Something to demonstrate live clay anyway. LC Vs Voxels not vs surface mode. I understand how fast the performance can be when hi density is used where is needed. What if we had a broad subdivision? A broad projection of a complicated map for example? Not just some buttons.
philnolan3d
That did demonstrate the Live Clay, he was sculpting small details onto a low poly mesh, it was generating a higher res mesh just where he sculpted. I think this would have been more evident if he showed us the wireframe once or twice.
Advanced Member michalis Posted February 27, 2011 Advanced Member Share Posted February 27, 2011 The wireframe is almost visible-predictable, Phil. It is "performance" my concern.

Advanced Member michalis Posted February 27, 2011 Advanced Member Share Posted February 27, 2011 ha ha , kay_Eva, you're right. Its me. I'm impressed with apps of great optimization and great UI. Possible workflows impresses me as well. I'm waiting for some demonstration of this 'optimization' here. We have voxels and we can do this easily for the moment. But with what cost ... I don't know what I'm missing. I can see it in the Paint Room just fine.

philnolan3d
Yes holding W shows the voxel wires, though on a really dense mesh you still won't see anything unless you zoom in. It's a weird wireframe though, like the polys were deleted, leaving only the wires behind.
Advanced Member michalis Posted February 27, 2011 Advanced Member Share Posted February 27, 2011 I always have to see wireframes when working with curves tool and hold w for move. I have to see the real structure of splines. But I don't always see what I was expecting there. lol

Member Garrick Posted February 28, 2011 Member Share Posted February 28, 2011 This new demo of Live Clay with Voxels is very intriguing. I will be looking forward to try this with fine details on a face, like eyelids and such. Great start guys! :good:

You have to "hold" W, not just click it (like you would the 4 key for wireframe in the Paintroom). And you also have to zoom in relatively close to see anything. Yes, unless you have a low res object you have to zoom in. Thanks Phil...have you noticed any change in the Memory leak you reported some time ago? I've reported it twice since, and Andrew even stated that it was fixed, but I can open any heavy file, work on it a bit, and when I exit the app, re-open the app and reload the file, it usually weighs in at 2-3GB's less! What is going on with this? I spent a lot of money on hardware updgrades a few months ago, in order to satisfy the Voxel Room's thirst for Memory, but if 3DC didn't hoard RAM needlessly, I don't know that I really needed to waste the money? I haven't noticed hardly any improvement between the GTX 275 and the GTX 470 (CUDA's not optimized/updated in 3DC, so that's one reason why). philnolan3d
I haven't noticed any differences, but then I haven't been able to use 3DC much in the past couple of weeks due to a current job calling for almost all LightWave.

Andrew Shpagin
3.5.14 [beta, not verified] uploaded. Win only, Mac+Linux - soon previous version 3.5.13 got status [beta, relatively stable] Changes: - I made support of painting/carving over planes/surfaces defined by 3 or 4 points -http://bit.ly/gk6xi0 , http://bit.ly/el1Sql - Image picker will respect usual navigation rules to navigate image. - Fixed bug in Logo tool that was causing dirty result sometimes. - While fixing Logo tool I made possbility to load grayscale pictures as contours in E-panel (through "Load shape" button). - I made improvement for merged objects scale - http://bit.ly/dTKpNX - The problem with single polygon hiing resolved - http://bit.ly/eaGejr - Undo in polygon hide mode done - http://bit.ly/gEQHaT - Specularity merge down issue fixed - http://bit.ly/ijpvy0 - Painting whole polygon issue fixed - http://bit.ly/fcLDYg - The problem in "Merge without voxelizing" resolved -http://bit.ly/gIK3n6 - I fixed some problems in AUTOPO and it will always produce meshes without holes. - I made possibility to render turnables [from help menu] with post-batching to create customizable videos. - Fixed UV room texture mapping issues - http://bit.ly/euXzrQ andhttp://bit.ly/dO4hL1

Advanced Member michalis Posted March 1, 2011 Advanced Member Share Posted March 1, 2011 Great, waiting for mac build. What about the 'covert n-gons to tri quads' request? and 'merge-join-delete double vertices' under retopo room? It doesn't seem so hard to do, does it? If you haven't aseen it Raul occasionaly posts LC updates on his blog. http://farsthary.wordpress.com/ I played with the new Plane tool for a minute but I think it will take practice to get nice curves with it. Advanced Member Routb3d Posted March 2, 2011 Advanced Member Share Posted March 2, 2011 Where would be the best place to start a thread about the new plane functionality? I want to create a video showing several of the uses I have found as well as open a conversation about how the tool could develop. Thanks again Andrew for the planes.. I have barely even started to tap the Sculpting workflows where these planes appliy. IC
